Many of you may have probably seen a TikTok about making a Book Bouquet. A lot of people have made them over there and the trend has gone quite viral. It’s a great gift idea for a book lover and there are several different ways to customize them to fit the reader in your life.
Items you’ll need to make the book bouquet:
- hot glue gun or tape (either floral tape or packing tape will work)
- tissue paper, old book pages, or scrapbook paper
- live flowers (I recommend getting some baby’s breath, and their favorite flower!) or making Paper flowers
- ribbon
- Cellophane or plastic bags
- 3 or 4 of their favorite books
- Wooden sticks (I got some at Hobby Lobby for .99)
Making the Book Bouquet
If you’d rather watch a video explanation on how to make a Book Bouquet I’ve uploaded the video to my YouTube Channel, and for your reference it is at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions feel free to email/DM me.
For the first step in making a book flower bouquet, grab your books and the plastic bags (or cellophane).
Wrap the books in the cellophane or put them in the bags as pictured. This will protect the books from any moisture from the flowers (if you make the paper roses you can skip this step).
Next, we attach the books to the wooden sticks. Add several wooden sticks to the backs of the books to help with stability; I used 3, but it will depend on how heavy the books you use are. I attached them with packing tape this time to test it out and it worked very well. But if you have a hot glue gun you can use it instead of tape.
The next step involved folding the tissue paper to make a fan shape, and layering them.
Then we place the book sticks inside and gently fold the paper over the edges.
Now for the fun part, I used two different colors of ribbon at the edges to hold the tissue paper together.
Then take your flowers (I just used baby’s breath) to fill in and add color.
Lastly, you can add a personal touch for a friend’s bday, Valentine’s Day, or an anniversary gift… the possibilities are endless with this thoughtful gift that will be the perfect gift for the book lover in your life.
