Book Description:

As a wife, mom and former corporate go-getter, Cheryl knows firsthand the frustration of trying to do it all and feeling that none of it is good enough. As the world slowed down for a global pandemic, Cheryl inspected her own life and who she wanted to become—who she needed to become—to serve at her highest level. Much of this discovery occurred in the kitchen during playful evenings side-by-side with her sons, husband, and mother. Their time together led Cheryl to realize that how you measure your priorities, mix them in with your life experiences, and marinate on and adjust to the results determines the direction of your life.

Meet the Author:
Cheryl Schuberth is a graduate of the University of California San Diego and a respected corporate leader.

As a wife, mom, and former corporate go-getter, Cheryl knows firsthand the frustration of trying to do it all and feeling that none of it is good enough. After twenty-five years leading and coaching teams in the male-dominated technology space, she stepped away from that world and embarked on a mission to enhance her relationships with her teenage sons and, at the same time, empower other working women to become more curious about their options and reevaluate their priorities.

She now coaches women to help them feel their best, increase their confidence, and put themselves at the top of the list. Cheryl lives outside Boulder, CO, where she enjoys hiking, skiing, and all things outdoors.

More from Cheryl – Fall Vibes

While I enjoy each of the four seasons and what they bring, I think I love fall the most. Growing up in southern California we didn’t have the mass of fall colors, but the temperature dipped just enough to bring out the sweaters. Many years I would pull the sweaters out too soon and end up sweating later in the day. But, I just couldn’t pass up a cozy sweater on a crisp, cool morning, especially since my sweaters came out only a few days a year. One of the reasons I left San Diego for the Midwest, was to experience more of the seasons and have not regretted the more drastic changes in Chicago and now Colorado. My love for fall has only grown.

Another reason I love fall is because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love planning and organizing the meal and experimenting with different versions of the classic Thanksgiving dishes. But what I like best is that it’s a gathering about being present and enjoying the ones you love. There’s no scrambling to buy the perfect gift or stressing about how much you should spend on someone. We are the gifts to each other and we gather to share and acknowledge that.

Growing up, my family lived in different states than our extended family and we rarely traveled for the holidays. We spent those special days with friends who became family and celebrated the family we got to choose. Sometimes that was outside enjoying the warm San Diego sun in shorts and t-shirts. Other times it was by the fire in a cozy fall sweater. Either way, I was grateful to be there.

My Thoughts

Mix, Measure & Marinade by Cheryl Schuberth was really an interesting book. I originally picked it to read because I loved the cover.

I loved how Cheryl Schuberth shared personal stories and reflections throughout the book. It caused me to pause and think several times. Her life in general is remarkably interesting and I would love to have worked with her as CEO of a company. Her leadership skills shine through this book in clear identifiable ways, and I really enjoyed seeing her ideas.

The way she broke up the book in specific measurable lessons was interesting and I loved all the cooking references. Genuinely appreciate all the effort she put into this one and it is a book I know I will reference back to it frequently.

4 out of 5 stars!
