MY THOUGHTS
‘Twas the Night Before Jesus was a beautifully lyrical story!
I loved how Donna Wyland used the lyrical sound of the original song and turned it into a lesson on the life of Jesus. Each page brought a new scene of the story with clever rhyming words and some beautiful illustrations that truly grabbed your imagination.
This was my first time reading a book by Donna Wyland, but I would be interested in reading more of her books because of her writing style in this one. Truly a beautiful rendition of the birth and life of Jesus.
The only negative I had was that the illustrations were not all in the same style (on the cover Mary looks different than later in the book) and a few of the sentences did not actually rhyme. HOWEVER, this is still a most wonderful book and my kids loved reading it and will reread it for many years to come.
