Title:  Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish

Author: Bethany Turner

Genre: Christian Contemporary Romcom

Publisher: Revell

Synopsis: Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel’s other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he’s sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public’s good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

My Thoughts

You know what they say if you can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen…

This was my first time reading a book by Bethany Turner and I loved her sense of humor and style of writing. This story of two chefs learning to work together was filled with several ups and downs and great life lessons. The storyline reminded me of Iron Chef or Chopped 😊, which are some of my favorite shows to watch.

Both Hadley and Max were fun to get to know. The storyline introduces their pasts little by little, giving glimpses into what made them who they are today. I loved Hadley’s home sweet southern roots in contrast with Max’s more northern ways, they played off each other well. I think my favorite part about the story was the themes of being yourself, learning to control your reactions, and how God is there with you through it all. Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish was laced with humor, faith, sarcasm, and a dash of romance, creating a great balance.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the great characters, life lessons, and for the smiles it gave me. I recommend reading this book to anyone who loves cooking, smiling, or books by Jessica Kate.

*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thought and opinions expressed within are my own.
