My Thoughts on Our Lunar New Year
I had the pleasure of reading one of Yobe Qiu’s previous books Our Moon Festival and it was just as delightful as this one!
I really enjoy learning about how diverse cultures celebrate their holidays. Yobe Qiu does a fabulous job giving the highlights of several ways cultures celebrate New Years across the globe. From China to Thailand, Vietnam, and India. We get to be immersed in the sights, sounds, customs, and foods of that specific culture. I really enjoyed the way this book was presented and all of the facts in it. Very professionally researched and layout. The words flowed a bit differently than what I am used to, however, that may be because Yobe Qiu was staying close to how the distinct cultures would present the information (which is a neat idea!)
The only thing that could enhance the experience of reading this book would be to include the recipes for the dishes mentioned in the book. Otherwise, a fantastic book. 4 Stars.
