History behind one of your books? (i.e. what inspired you to write it? Was it a vacation, location, book, historical occurrence?)

Writing Lavender Tears was the most beautiful journey of stepping into a brand new ministry. I don’t often have enough time to share with my readers the full story, of how this novel came to be, and I will gladly take it!

During the first few months of the COIV-19 quarantine, my family and I began to take communion every day and seek the Lord for a divine purpose. We wanted to find a way to spread light. A way to shift our own attention onto what God could do, despite the concerning events transpiring around the world. It was during this communing time that the Lord inspired Lavender Tears.

My husband and I were reflecting on historical figures throughout the Bible and the ones whom we most related to. As I began to mention the woman with the alabaster jar, I was immediately taken into a vision. In this vision I saw novel pages flipping before me and the entire content of this novel was downloaded into my spirit! I jumped up with such excitement because I had never written—nor aspired to write—anything before! (Minus a few personal devotions, and small group lessons) Certainly nothing in the Christian entertainment genre.

I knew I had just received a beautiful gift from the Holy Spirit and I got right to work! It was so fun, and so surprisingly easy! I outlined fourteen chapters that first night and watched day by day as the story in my minds eye, unfolded before me.

The Lord was so gracious to me throughout this process. He provided everything and everyone I would need to self-publish and allowed me to compete the novel in a short four months! The best part? Lavender Tears is only the beginning! I am currently witting the sequel, of which I will share more about soon, and I am so in love with where Mary’s journey is taking her. I hope this first novel, though heart breaking at times, will draw the readers into her experiences and help them to find themselves somewhere within the pages. We all face trials and sometimes tragedies throughout out our lives and it is so important to hold on tight to the faith within us, and find our destiny! We can’t always see it when we are in the middle of a storm, and like becoming an author, I didn’t see it coming either! But, what a wonder and joy it is when we discover that we have been God’s masterpiece in the making, all along!
