I grew up loving books. When I was about six, my family moved into a house that had a box of old, yellowed books in the attic. They weren’t kids’ books, but I remember pulling them out of the box, smelling them, and trying to read them. At six, I didn’t understand much.
Those books went with us when we left that house. In fifth grade, I read the copy of GONE WITH THE WIND and loved it—in fact, I think I learned how to flirt reading that book. Scarlett knew all the tricks! JANE EYRE was in that box, and LITTLE WOMEN. And a book called HIS BEST GIRL, which only brings back two memories—one, they were going to a dive (and I had no idea what that was), and two, a character gave a man a “you’re the cream in my coffee” look. Since as a kid I didn’t drink coffee or cream, I had no idea what that meant.
But that’s what books do—they teach us. They take us to new worlds. They introduce us to people and places we may never see. They can become priceless treasures.
If you feel the same way about books, come join us as we celebrate them and the people who write them. Meet us in August for Storyfest, where we will laugh and talk and share stories about what books have meant to us. Maybe we’ll even have coffee together. I hope to see you there!

While a newer author (and maybe not as well known as some on the list), I’m thrilled to be part of ACFW StoryFest 2023. I love talking to readers and hearing about what Christian fiction books they enjoy reading. Can’t wait to meet some new friends at ACFW StoryFest 2023!
