Having grown up on their own show in Hollywood, Christian sister-and-brother actors Staci and Mike Whitaker have now married and raised their own families out of the limelight. Life away from Hollywood’s glamour has given them new perspectives on family and culture.
Fate reboots their old show and summons Staci, and Mike’s wife Celeste, to a fresh chance at entertaining modern families. After much discussion, they carefully accept. But when the show goes horribly awry, Staci, Celeste, and even Mike find themselves sorely tempted and even tricked into violating their most cherished ideals.
How will they find their way back, when all around them seems aimed towards darkness?

About the Author
John R. Price is a Christian, loving husband, college teacher, and writer in Central Arkansas. For over 40 years, he has loved watching classic television and following the entertainment industry as a hobby. He also enjoys studying Christian apologetics. He is married to Anna, his wife, who helped edit his first Christian novel, “Bobby Girls: A Novel.”
More from John
I wrote the book as a Christian response to a well-known actor starring in a popular television show reboot. I thought the topic would be an interesting fictional exploration what actors and fans should consider when a TV show seems to compromise an actor’s values.
I chose the Dallas metroplex as the main setting because I have visited the area several times. As a child in the early 1980s, I remember watching two Dallas TV stations on cable TV.
Author Interview
What is your favorite book that you have written (Published or Unpublished), and why?
Since this is my first book, it is my favorite. I felt called to write this story. It is not everyday that one gets such a calling. After the shocking impact that hit me when I saw a particular famous TV actor–who has proclaimed to be a Christian–had participated in a not-so-family-friendly TV show, I felt moved to address the issue for both actors and viewers.
Once an idea takes root, how long does it take you to write it down?
For my current book, it took me a couple of months to think about the idea for this story. Shortly after Memorial Day, 2019, I began writing the rough draft of this book. I had that first draft done by July 5, 2019. Over the next three months, Anna (my wife) helped me edit the book. The first publication did not happen until late October 2019.
Do you have a genre that you would never write? (In the Christian genre sphere i.e. speculative, historical, contemporary, etc.)
It is very doubtful that I would write any Christian historical fiction. While I like to read about history at times or watch historical documentaries, I feel that attempting to write a story in an unfamiliar period such as before I was born would require more research. I have seen too many times where historical pieces have inserted anachronisms within the plot. While some of those may have been intentional, the unintentional ones can become distracting. Unfortunately, I am one of those who might be jarred by that if I notice something out of place.
What is one thing in your life that you would say has had the greatest impact on your writing? Or in your life in general?
My Christian faith has been a major impact on my writing. When I saw a famous Christian actor get mixed up in a not-so-family-friendly TV show, that was jarring to me. My wife (Anna) is also another impact on my writing because she has helped me with some of the editing.
Lastly, what was your favorite book growing up?
There were so many books that I read when I was younger that I enjoyed. The Encyclopedia Brown and The Boxcar Children series were some of my favorites. I enjoyed mystery stories and trying to figure out the puzzling plots.
