US Marshal Madison James may not be sure who shot her three months ago, but she does know one thing–it’s time to get back out into the field.
When her partner, Jonas Quinn, receives a message that a federal warrant just came in on a man connected to a string of bank robberies, Madison jumps at the chance to get back to work. What she and Jonas find is a bank robbery in progress that’s gone wrong–and things are about to get worse.
For these bank robbers, it’s never been just about the money. It’s about taking risks and adrenaline rushes — and getting caught is not part of the game. When the suspects escape, Madison and Jonas must hunt them down and bring them to justice before someone else–someone close to them–gets hurt . . . or worse.
From Seattle to the San Juan Islands, bestselling author Lisa Harris takes you on a nonstop chase where feelings are complicated, and failure isn’t an option.
My Thoughts on The Chase
This was a book that totally made me want to grab my passport and run to the nearest airport…
The Chase is the second book in the U.S. Marshals series, and I am loving all the fast-paced scenes and action that this series has had so far! Lisa Harris took it to a new level in this book with a bank robbery gone bad, traveling allover Seattle and the San Juan Island, and with some very surprising twists!
I enjoyed how the focus of this book was about catching the suspect before it was too late and how Lisa Harris kept me guessing as I quickly flipped through pages to find out the ending. She also did a great job interweaving details that made clear logical sense with where the story was going.
The main characters Madison and Jonas were well laid out and I liked their style of conversation. It was easy going and so easy to be engaged with. I liked how Lisa Harris also inserted little hints of a romance between the two – and left it open to there being more in a future book.
Overall, this book was one of my favorite reads of the year in terms of suspense, keeping me guessing, and the way Lisa Harris developed the whole story. I give it a definite 5 stars and I know I will be thinking about it for a while to come… Plus, how soon I can get my hands on the next book in the series!
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
