Book Review of World of the Innocent
This book got me through a whirlwind of emotions.
Jhoi. Oh, Jhoi (pronounced Joy), is a character written differently than the normal novel you read. It’s written in dual tense that invites you to KNOW who Jhoi is. The search for knowing who you are, defining who a friend really is, when to let go of innocence, and the knowledge that we are never too early to start leaving our mark were so impactfully written.
Nadine C. Keels drops in a boatload of wisdom in Jhoi’s story. Much of which left me with a nodding head, a smile, and tears too.
“And words are power. Words change minds. Words can dominate. They bolster faith. Inability isn’t always the only reason why we fail to do things. A lot of times, we don’t do what we should because we don’t believe we can anymore.”
It’s not your typical format for a love story (definitely not in the cookie cutter category) that publishers push. But it is a creative take I definitely enjoyed, and I’m looking forward to reading book two, World of Joy.
Not many authors touch on the substance that this uniquely written story does. I’m all the better for it, though, since it’s based on a true story; tears were in my eyes (you’ll understand after reading it).
