Today I get the pleasure of interviewing Author Christen Krumm! You scroll down to read more about her first Traditionally published book, On the Golden Cliffs, and check out the giveaway too!
Without further ado, Welcome Christen!
Which of your Published or Unpublished books is your favorite, and why?
Ahh. That’s like asking which child is my favorite! I like It Happened at Christmas because it was my first. And I like On the Golden Cliffs because it was my first contracted, traditional published novel.
How do you pick your character’s personalities or looks?
I literally scroll Pinterest until a photo pops out at me and I’m like “Yes! That’s X character.” As far as personalities … I just try not to make them all the same! LOL.
What is your favorite genre to read? What is your favorite genre to write? And why are they your favorites?
I am a lover of story. It doesn’t matter to me the genre or age group, if it’s a good story, I’m going to love it.
What inspires you the most?
Good story — whether that be from song, movie, or book … I get so excited about a good story.
Once an idea takes root, how long does it take you to write it down? Do you use outlines?
It depends on what I’m currently working on. For example, generally when I hit a little past the midpoint of my story, I have a brilliant “eureka” of an idea, and I want to drop everything and write that story — but, as with the case of On the Golden Cliffs, I was contracted to finish. I wrote snippets of ideas that were coming to me for this next book, but had to wait until I was finished draft Cliffs before I jumped into the next project.
I never used an outline until I learned from the master (Susan May Warren)
Do you have a favorite author? Or someone whom you would say has influenced your writing style?
I love Natalie Walter’s books (her SNAP series is my favorite to date!) And Jaime Jo Wright is brilliant.
What are your hobbies other than writing?
Currently trying to figure out how to garden. Last year, my brother-in-law and I put out a pretty big garden, and it did well, but we didn’t do so good on the preserving side. I’d love to figure out how to preserve our excess.
I’m also looking into getting chickens this year, so I’m looking forward to learning all about raising them!
Do you have a genre that you would never write?
I’m not going to answer this because I said I would never write Amish … and look at me now. I’ve learned just to not say “never” 😊
What is one thing you would say has had the greatest impact on your writing?
Tricia Goyer. LOL. This women is amazing.
Lastly, what was your favorite book growing up?
In my early years it was Baby Island by Carol Ryrie Brink and in my teen years it was Dee Henderson’s O’Malley series ❤️
Thanks so much for taking the time to let me interview you Christen!
Sincerely,
Kimmie

One wrong post has sent influencer Lyla Taylor’s social media empire crashing to her feet. To save it, she’ll have to escape to rural Montana. Six weeks in a high-end spa won’t hurt…except, she’s not booked into a spa, but at a rustic Amish B&B. Suddenly, her roommates are racoons, and her daily activities include hanging laundry. Thanks, but no thanks. Lyla is ready to hit delete and head back to civilization.
Amishman Reuben Milner has a secret…one that could destroy his world. For now, however, he’s kept his life as a novelist under wraps, focusing on providing for his family after the tragic passing of his father. Renting the dawdi house seems the right move—until the wrong woman moves in. However, she comes with ideas to help improve their B&B, and that, along with her feisty personality, is something Reuben can’t ignore. Even if the elders want him to focus on joining the church and finding a wife.
When going home isn’t an option, Lyla decides to help the Milners spruce up their rental. It does help distract her from her problems online. The more Lyla works on the rental with Reuben, the more she wonders if returning to her former life is worth it. However, is it the simple life that Lyla’s heart longs for—or a particular guarded Amishman with secrets of his own? And when those secrets are discovered, what will it cost them both?
