My Review of Captured Secrets

By now I hope you all know that I am kind of a sucker for any book that has the words ranch or horses in it. So, when I saw this book by Carmen Peone, I was immediately intrigued. quite honestly the synopsis is what pulled me in with this one there was so much packed into it I just had to see what else was inside the book itself. 

I thought Carmen Peone did a great job with her character, Sydney and Trey specifically. She covered a lot of ground with them, a lot of messiness, a lot of secrets, and family dynamics that can be hard to deal with. One of my favorite parts was that she didn’t shy away from dealing with those tough subjects, but she faced them head on and she showed grace and faith throughout them.  

The setting was very well described, and it made me feel like I was right there. It made me wish I was still getting to ride horses every day. 

I liked how overall the theme was about trusting God through it all like even if it was hard to know that God had it all. I felt that the story was pretty well developed, and I am looking forward to seeing where she takes the other characters in this series.

About the Author

Carmen Peone is an award-winning author of Young Adult Adventure and Contemporary Western Romance and lives in northeast Washington state and on the Colville Confederated Indian Reservation with her husband. She had worked with a Tribal Elder, Marguerite Ensminger, for three years learning the Arrow Lakes Language and various cultural traditions, which led to her writing career. With a degree in abnormal psychology, the thought of writing never entered her mind, until she married her husband and they moved to the reservation after college.
